June! Photo a Day, Day 100–A Giant Coffee Pot

Day 100.  Coffee anyone? Mickey Coffee Pot, Winston-Salem, NC.  Built by the Mickey brothers in 1858 to showcase their skills as tinsmiths, this coffee pot is 12 feet high, has a 16 foot circumference, and was said to have the capacity to hold 740 gallons of coffee..It once marked the boundary between Winston and Salem when  they were separate towns. . 

From the marker: “Built in 1858 by the brothers Samuel and Julius Mickey, Moravian descendants of the founders of Salem, this landmark originally stood as a sign in front of their tin shop at the corner of South Main and Belews Streets in Salem.”
