July 1, 2013–Tamarack Artisan Center, Beckley, WV

Day 123/365. “Tamarack, the best of West Virginia!”  When headed to Winston-Salem, NC from Kentucky, I usually stop here, since it is in Beckley, about halfway.  This rest stop, and the Georgia Welcome Center off of I-75 south in Ringgold, GA are 2 of my favorite rest areas.  Tamarack has WV crafts, and a delicious cafeteria, not to mention nice restrooms.  They usually have artists demonstrating their crafts.  This particular day an artist was outside making chainsaw carvings, and one indoors was spinning pottery on a wheel.  I love the giant daffodils outside too!
