2014 in review

Thanks everybody for such a good year.  I took a break from the daily photo blog for a bit, but 2015 seems like a good time to start sharing photos again.  Happy New Year!

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 520 times in 2014. If it were a cable car, it would take about 9 trips to carry that many people.

Crave Photography is sponsoring a giveaway that is a dream come true for aspiring photographers. The major part of the prize is an all expenses paid mentoring session with her where you learn about everything from choosing lenses, taking the shot, processing it, marketing your photography, etc., but she is also giving away either a Nikon or Canon 50mm 1.4 lens, a credit to stuff at her design store, plus 10 other vendors are giving away products too!

Check it out here.  Good luck!

AfterShot Pro: Corel’s answer to Adobe Lightroom?

Just after reading about the launch of Adobe Lightroom 4 beta, I found out about Corel’s soft launch of their new product, AfterShot Pro.  I was a long time user of Paint Shop Pro from their JASC days to the early Corel times before I began using Lightroom and Photoshop.  Isn’t it interesting that they have released this product around the same time that Adobe has launched Lightroom 4 beta?  I really enjoy using Lightroom, but I’m happy that there are more choices.

Has anyone out there used Corel AfterShot Pro?  What do you think?

Out the window landscape shots

I like roadtrips of any length from the 2-3 miles to our city’s biggest park, to the 4000 miles round trip from Kentucky to Yellowstone.  When I’m not driving I like to shoot through the windshield, or out the side window.

The color shot is SOOC (straight out of camera) with basic processing in Adobe Lightroom.   I popped the B&W shot into photoshop and used RadLab for the color to B&W conversion.  More about RadLab in a future post!  Oh, and the barn is from Kentucky, shot out the side window.
